Diwali Diva Lamp Craft.

Diwali Diva Lamp Craft.

To make a beautiful, sparkly, little Diva Lamp, you will need:

  • A cardboard tube
  • Cardboard box e.g. pizza or cereal box
  • Coloured tissue paper
  • PVA glue
  • Paint brush or glue stick
  • Masking tape
  • Sequins/jewels
  • (Optional) Glitter or glitter glue for added sparkle
  • BATTERY OPERATED TEA LIGHTS (I have written this in bold, as please, please, do not use a real tea light. These Diva Lamps are made from cardboard and tissue paper, so they will burn)

We began by cutting our cardboard tubes to make them about 5cm tall, then snipped them, to about half way, and pushed them out to make a ‘flower,’ as shown:

We then roughly drew a 12cm long x 9cm wide (at the middle) egg shape onto The cardboard. The size doesn’t really matter, but you just need to make sure the tube cut out will fit on the largest end (as shown below)

Using small tears of masking tape, attach the tube cut out, to the cardboard (as above)

Next, comes the messy (but fun) bit…. Cut lots of different coloured tissue paper into strips and cover the Divas using PVA glue to stick. (shown below). Don’t worry if the tissue paper goes over the edge, it can easily be cut back into shape, once dry.

Whilst still wet with glue, we added our sequins. Make them as sparkly and as colourful as you like. Then, apply another layer of PVA glue.

We also added a few spots of glitter glue, for extra sparkle.

Once dry, trim any edges and pop in your tealight.

I hope you have fun making these, they look beautiful all together. 🙂
